Running in the rain – you either love it or hate it, but sometimes you just have to do it.
I’m pretty sure we’re all familiar with that annoying feeling we have when our socks get wet,
it’s cold, and our feet never seem to get warmer (which bares dangers like frostbite).
This is what triggered me to write about the best socks for running in the rain.
They are durable, they dry quickly – and they’re extremely cheap – so heck, why not get a pair!
Cool Running Socks For Rainy Situations
This is one of the best pairs of socks I own, and trust me, I own a lot, from Nike and Polo athletic socks to expensive cashmere and crew socks. They are extremely soft and high-quality, and I often find myself wanting to wear them for occasions that don’t include running just because they are so comfortable.Things to note:- The socks are lightweight and thin in a good way. My shoes are already pretty tight for support, so the thickness of other socks typically makes my shoes feel uncomfortably tight. These socks were thin enough for me to easily slip on my shoes without feeling any discomfort.- Although thin, the socks are very high-quality and durable. They are made of a soft and very breathable material, so my feet never once felt hot or sweaty in them.- They can accommodate feet of all sizes. I am a size 7.5 in women, and they fit well enough where the socks only go up to my ankles (photos included). My boyfriend steals these socks from me all the time, and they fit perfectly for him as well despite him being a size 12 in men.- The high, padded tab on the back of the socks is so clever and useful for a number of reasons:1) It provides a padded cushion between the back of the ankle and the shoe, which is great because that is a high-friction area, so the padded tab protects against potential blisters/shoe burns.2) It sticks out above low-rise shoes and is thicker than the rest of the sock, so it prevents the sock from slipping or riding down.3) It makes it much easier to grip the socks to pull them up.Cons:- Price. This product description is for only one pair of socks, so definitely pretty pricey.I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest, unbiased review, and since I want to help out potential buyers by providing as much info as I can, I tried hard to find something wrong with these socks but couldn’t other than the retail price. I’m currently wearing them as I type this and absolutely love everything about them – wish they were offered in more colors!
I see some complaints on here about the socks being to small, people saying that they wear size 11-13 shoes and the Large size socks are to small for them. I have always found buying socks off my shoe size never seemed to work, so I buy socks that are 2 sizes smaller than my shoe size and I have to say the strategy still works because I wear a size 14.5-15 and the Large sock fit perfectly. The people that are saying the Large socks are to small must have really wide feet because I wear size 15 and my feet aren’t thin yet the socks fit just right. When I put them on they look just like the advertising picture just sayin.
These were recommended to me by a Hoka shoe factory consultant at a RunDisney Expo. I was complaining about blisters, even with moleskin and he said to try these after his experience running Ultra marathons. I’ve run 2 Half Marathons and found these socks to fit well, not bunch up, and they cushion my foot adequately without the “overpadded” feel I get from some socks that have very thick pads at the balls of your feet. These are my go-to socks now for running over 10K where my feet are particular about what socks I wear.
I went on a trip to the Mediterranean and brought everything but socks. While traveling through Italy, I found these super thin low cut socks that fit my feet like gloves, so much so that I couldn’t tell I was wearing socks. I only had bought a 3 pack though because they were a little pricey. (big mistake on my part). When I got back home, it became my mission to find more to these magical socks… but I soon found they were not available in the US.The Drymax Run Hyper Thin No Show Socks is the next best thing I could get. I use them for working out and everyday use. They keep my feet dry and give enough protection from blisters forming. Definitely a must have if you’re tired of socks that shift/bunch throughout the day.
I work 12 1/2 hour shifts, mostly on my feet. I have to wear safety shoes, and my feet usually sweat in closed shoes. However, they stay nice and dry in these Drymax socks and that just amazes me. I bought 6 pair to make sure that I can wear a clean pair every day (and a pair or two extra just in case). I learned about them through my Mom. They are the best socks I have ever owned and I will never buy any other kind again. I also wear them in my hiking boots, and love the comfort and enjoy the dryness in them as well. I wear a womens size 9 1/2 W shoe and the size M Drymax socks fit me perfectly. I wash them in the normal wash cycle but I allow them to air dry, which they do pretty quickly.
Fits great are thin and flexible if you have a big calf or anything they will still fit awesome find and great buy for the price.
many brands to choose from …most with its pros and cons …i’ve tried 2 other brands …but Drymax gets my vote …thin, light, compact (hardly takes up any space when brought along as a spare set on Race Days) … quick dryingwhat more can one asks for lolpersonally, i apply half a stretch of the pre-cut K-Tape on the bottom of my toes, and then slip these super socks on !helps against blisters.to date i own 5 pairs for myself, bot 1 for the Mrs, and 1 for junior (8 yrs old) …this costs about S$19 in Singapore, so buying from US is considerably cheaper … but that might not be much due to shipping cost for 3rd party freight back to SG (bcos it can only be shipped within the US)so DryMax ! would be cool if you could allow your products to be shipped to outside The States as well. will buy more for sure LOL !!!
these socks work great. my feet are kept dry throughout all my runs. my longest so far in them is 6 miles, but i know they can easily go longer with no trouble. after a run you can feel the outside of the sock is wet, but flip it inside out and it feels dry. these are a must buy for the active runner. also i couldn’t turn them down for the price, got them on a big sale on here
Those were the most fitting rain-running shoes I’ve found out there 🙂
