I tried on many a knock-off at the discount store, but the real UGG boot is worth the price you pay for it. (this coming from a woman who doesn’t pay full-price for ANYTHING if she can get away with it) My teenage daughter informed me that they run big-thank goodness- and they do- a full size big! She also informed me that you DO NOT wear socks with them- “Like EVER!” She was right again as they regulate both heat and cold with the sheepskin lining inside. They are cozy, comfortable, and from a woman who wears an orthotic in her sneakers, they felt good on the bottom of my feet as well. I wouldn’t stand in them ALL DAY, but I can wear them for 3 to 4 ours without my orthotic and my feet feel great. I LOVE THEM. I can see myself wearing them year round because I never want to take them off. And NO, your feet DO NOT sweat in them at all!!
I have the feather in the light light greyish –purplish color and just love them. My first pair of bailey bow (because I thought I was too old for them) but I broke down and purchased. The fit is perfect. I won’t be turning down the top to expose the mohair like I do with my mini bailey button boots because I wear those as shoes instead of boots. I will keep these up for the back bow. I also have a girlfriend that ordered these this year and she convinced me I wasn’t too old to wear bows. A lot of people were disappointed in the color but I got mine from 6:00 pm. com and they have a photo that shows the purple cast instead of the amazon photo that looks much too grey.
First to help with Real vs. Fake Uggs….
If you look at the Left boot inside behind the label is a reflective sticker that has Uggs written on it with Sun’s which will help let you know if they are real. The same sticker should be on the box. As of 2013 Uggs changed the security feature when you turn the boot 90 degree’s the sticker will change from Black to White. You can go to the Uggs website to see the pictures of the stickers and get a more detailed explanation. Depending on what year your boots are made will depend on the security feature.Next Sizing….
I usually wear a size 7/7.5 pending on the shoe. The Uggs site tells if that if you are in between sizes to order DOWN as their boot tends to run large, torn between a Big Kids 5 or 6 I ordered the BIG Kids 5. They fit PERFECT, a little snug, snug with a thick sock on BUT…. Uggs form to your feet which is what makes them soooo comfy, so after a few wears the snugness will hug my tootsie’s just right with socks on. I know some like to wear with no sock but I have to wear socks.
Now to tell you what you probably already know… Uggs… LOVES them, how could you not, they are like having pillows on your feet, they are like walking up a staircase of clouds taking you to HEAVEN. Yea they are that comfortable. When they first came out I swore I wouldn’t jump on the bandwagon so much so that I would wear the EMU and BearPaws or as I would freely admit “Fuggs”.
Uggs are without a doubt the BEST boot in this type of style, you know the sheepskin, warm & fuzzy, cozy & comfy, that you can wear with sweats, jeans or shorts because they feel that AMAZING on. I have worn BearPaw, EMU and other popular competitors and without a doubt Uggs is definitely the way to go. The popular competitors seem to over do it with either the boots are too heavy on the feet or they don’t given enough support.
If you are looking to keep the feetsie’s warm, want comfort and something you can wear with anything these are the boots you want. Don’t settle for the knocks off whether they are they are unknowns or popular competitors. Ugg’s LOVES them 🙂
If you are trying to decide if you want to order these boots……Stop over thinking this one. I have never, in my life, left a review on a product and I’m a serious shopper/consumer. However, as I logged in to order my 2nd pair of UGG Cardy boots I decided that this is the one product that deserves my feedback. I have owned my boots for almost 5 years. You read that right. They are still in great condition, despite the fact that they are the first pair of shoes I pull out when the temps drop and the seasons change. As soon as it’s socially correct to wear warmer footwear, I’ve got these on my feet. I’m in Texas, but I have worn these to Utah, to Colorado, etc. etc. They have been in the snow, in the rain, to church, to school, etc. etc. I was just telling my husband that I wanted to ask for another pair for Christmas and it’s the first time that he didn’t think I was being extravagant because he knows how much use I get out of these boots. They are still holding up, albeit a little bit of pilling (totally to be expected) and I am wearing them as much as I can again this year. I bought the black Cardy Boots, but this year I’m going to get grey or Port. I usually wear a 7.5 or 8, depending on the shoe, but I bought my UGGs in a size 7 and they are perfect. If you are looking for a comfy boot…Don’t buy the cheaper version of these that you see at Walmart and the mall! Shell out the money for the UGGs and you can be wearing them in a few years still. 🙂
I absolutely LOVE these Uggs! This was actually my very first pair of Uggs because I never really saw the appeal, I thought they were too expensive for not being all that cute. Then when I saw these Bailey Bow Uggs I fell in love because they finally came out with a design that was girly and more appealing to women. Given they were more expensive than the older Ugg styles but I decided to buy them anyways and see what all of the fuss was about. I must say, I have never in my life worn a pair of shoes more comfortable and warm as these boots! Although Uggs are most definitely not made for the summer months in Florida, they are the absolute best boots you could wear in the cold weather or even slightly cooler weather. I bought the complete Ugg care kit to ensure I take proper care of them, but Ill admit these boots are so comfortable that it almost feels wrong wearing these to work at the hospital because when I wear them I feel like I just got out of bed and wore my slippers straight into work.
I highly recommend these boots. I think they look great. They are very comfortable and warm. I have perhaps too many boots, but I will compare them. The boots I will review are Emu, Uggs, Bear Paws, and Minnetonka. All the boots I am reviewing here are fully lined with sheep fleece, including a fleece lined foot bed. They will all keep your feet warm and comfortable. If you have boots that are lined with synthetic fleece they will not keep your feet comfortable. Your feet will not be as warm as with wool and ironically will tend to sweat, which is uncomfortable and will eventually chill your feet. The two best quality boots of these are the Emus and the Uggs. I’m reviewing them all here to help you pick the right boot for you.
**Uggs Australia** boots are the softest of my boots. The Uggs have a flat sole without much arch support, but the wool foot bed does support your foot fairly well. They are like wearing slippers. The wool is soft and the sheepskin exterior is supple. They say their wool is treated and it feels like it is combed or something to be silkier. More than any other of my boots the Uggs need to be treated with water repellent, though all the boots here should be sprayed to help protect them and keep them clean. Uggs makes their own spray and it works well. Any good brand made for suede and nubuck works well. Avoid using any of the water proof sprays with silicone as an ingredient though. Uggs are the most comfortable boots for lounging around in a cabin.
Emu boots are a sturdiest of these boots. The edges are finished and bound rather than just a raw cut like the Uggs. They have a little bit of arch support in them. The wool they use is 100% Australian Merino wool and is densest of all the boots. It tends not to compress over time and will insulate your feet well. You may need to order a size up because of this. The sole has a tougher outer layer of rubber so they tend to wear well. I think these are better made than the wildly popular Uggs Australia boots. They are fairly water repellent, even before being treated, probably because of a high natural lanolin content. These are great boots to walk in the city in on a winter day.
BearPaws are the bargain boots here, in a good way. Bear Paws make warm and comfortable boots that are good looking. The boot interior is wool so they do keep your feet warm. The exterior leather is not sheepskin, but is cow hide. The cowhide makes for a sturdy boot. These are the boots to wear walking in snow. Cowhide is stiffer and I think a bit tougher than the sheepskin, though it is not as supple as the sheepskin. Bear Paws are not as well made with the attention to detail that you find with Emu. However, cost about a third what Uggs and Emus cost and are fairly well made. They look good, are comfortable and warm.
Minnetonka makes a very soft and comfy boot too. These American made boots come in materials other than sheepskin. I’m only reviewing the sheepskin side zip fringe boot, because that is the only one I know about. It is all sheepskin and soft like a slipper. It has a rubber sole and cushioned insole. These are great to wear in the house or on a car trip, but I doubt they would hold up well to much outdoors walking. I really love these boots for wearing at home. They keep my feet warm and comfy.
This is my favorite style of UGG boot–the Bailey Button. I have two other pairs of short Ugg boots, and like the others they are warm, comfortable, and fashionable. These are even easier to get on because of the slit down the side and more versatile also because you can fold the top down. They are so very nice looking–even better than the picture–and go well with anything, even nice outfits. I wore them over the holidays with a matching bag and they went with everything from pajamas in the morning to dressy clothes.
I wanted to mention that I sometimes wear them with an orthotic, which they do accommodate, even though you have to put in in over the fur; it still works. I do this when I’m going to have to do a lot of walking. Also, somewhere I read that these particular boots ran large, but I disagree. I am a 9.5 and initially ordered a 9 as was recommended to me. I had to return them and order up with a 10, which fit beautifully.
I poured over reviews for Uggs as well as the knock-off brands for weeks. I had been eyeing them for years mostly for warmth and not for looks. I decided to take the plunge and spend the extra money and buy the Uggs.My concern over size was holding me back from purchasing online. After reading many reviews that stated you should order a half size to a full size down, I decided that the half size would probably work. I normally wear an 8 or 8.5 depending on the shoe itself. Since this particular style of Uggs comes in whole sizes only, I went for the 8.
My Uggs arrived within 5 days (ordered on Thursday night, arrived on Tuesday afternoon). They were nicely packaged and shipped via UPS. My only complaint would be against UPS as they left the box outside my door in the pouring rain. The outside box was soaked through but luckily my Uggs were not damaged.
The boot fits snugly and was challenging at first to put on. After a week of wearing them, they have broken in nicely. I will advise that you scotch guard them or use the Ugg brand suede protection.
I purchased the mini’s instead of the short or tall boots. The minis hit just above my ankle and give my feet the warmth they deserve. I’m a mom of 2 teenage boys and didn’t want to look like I was competing with the girls their same age :-). For now I’ve only worn them around the house or to run errands. There is little to no arch support so I don’t advise shopping in them.
I can honestly tell you that I have not been disappointed in this purchase. These Uggs are comfy, WARM and are perfect at the end of a long day!!
I normally wear a size 10 in winter shoes and size 11 in sandals/wedges, however a size 9 fit perfectly with plenty of room! These boots are gorgeous!! They will be worn a ton this fall and winter. The leopard print is so pretty and will go with almost anything in my closet. I’m in love with these boots!! Don’t hesitate to order them, if you love leopard print you will not be disappointed with these boots!
A couple of years ago, I bought a fantastic pair of expensive hiking boots. I loved them–until I finally wore them in below-freezing temps (below zero, even). While being completely warm everywhere and with waterproof boots on, inevitably my feet would sweat while hiking through snow with snowshoes on and, in turn, would eventually freeze. It’s always very miserable with frozen feet.Since then, I’ve been on the lookout for a truly insulated boot that is still waterproof and has actual breathability.
So far, the Adirondack fits the bill. I’ll admit, I haven’t had a chance to go traipsing through zero degree temps with them yet, but the bit of everyday testing I’ve put these boots through in our cold and snowy weather seem to make the cut so far: very warm, insulated, and quite dry. I am ALWAYS complaining about cold feet with all kinds of boots so I’m extremely pleased so far.
FYI, on the safe side, I sprayed the boots with a couple of coats of Scotch Guard.
As for the fit, while I’ve never had my feet officially sized but after trying on shoes over the years, I’m under the impression that I have a slightly narrow foot but that has never stopped me from wearing anything with a “normal” width. My foot fits a size 7 best but my long toes fit better in size 7.5 closed shoes. So far, my toes do just lightly touch the toe box but comfortably so with medium weight socks on–it likely will touch less as the padding becomes slightly compressed over time. Since I have a higher arch than the average person (I LOVE wearing Chaco and Sanita shoes), I wouldn’t mind additional arch support but that should be easy enough to fix by slipping something under the removable insole if needed.
Regarding looks, it’s definitely more “feminine” than my other pair hiking boots–they’re not as bulky and much more flexible. I merely went with the pineneedle color based on price (close to $100 less than the more popular color choices). It’s a bit more green than I was expecting but I really like the overall look of the boot.
Overall? Easily a 5-star rating from this cold-footed girl in Montana.
Was estatic when I found the mini bailey button to be able to turn down the top fur and wear as shoes. I just love the heavy thick soles for going out in the mud (not intentional) when the snow melts to pick up logs for the fireplace. I sit in my chair and wear them inside as slippers when I come in. Don’t take off til I go to bed at night. Since I’ve purchased uggs I don’t buy regular shoes any more. And since I haven’t worn heels for years. I live in Uggs and gave all my dress shoes to the thrift store. It’s so nice to be retired and to dress for myself now!! Now, all the girls in my family wants Uggs from grandma for Christmas….so as they go on sale I purchase for them!! p.s. I purchased in Grey and Brown, I’d also like to have the lipstick color and navy…but have to slow down for a while. You should see all the beautiful colors Amazon has in this style. PS I forgot to add earlier; I bought waterproof silicon spray before I wore my boots and put two coats on to protect from the elements and it did not change the color at all after drying.
A side note
Preserving your brand new Uggs for year to come can be an easier task with its own polish kit.
We’ve included the best kit on market below for you to take into consideration, so be sure
to check it out !
Okay, you may not need this particular set — but if you own suede or sheepskin boots — you at least need to own the brush that comes in this set. It is by far the most valuable tool out there when it comes to keeping your boots clean. This is the set I bought and used, so it’s what I’m reviewing. I’m sure there are better kits available and possibly at a better value. I’m sure you are at least in part paying for the Ugg name.
At first I wasn’t too impressed with this set — largely because it didn’t magically do what I expected it do to. Of course — I’ve since come to learn that I didn’t know how to use this set. Perhaps that is the single criticism this set deserves — it does not come with in-depth instructions — just the instructions on the bottles of solution — so not the best source of information.
In January I bought a sand colored pair of Emu sheepskin boots. One night when it was raining I stepped out of my car and into a puddle in the gutter. One boot got soaked but I figured it would dry okay. I was wrong. The rainwater must have been greasy because it left dark brown stains all along the sole of my boot.
I tried everything to clean it and nothing worked. If anything I succeeded only in spreading the grease stains around. Soon, the one boot looked drastically different from the other and I couldn’t imagine wearing them in public anymore. That’s when I ordered this cleaning kit — but when I tried the cleaning solution — it didn’t seem to do anything.
Just as I was about to throw the boots away I started scouring the web for solutions. Eventually I found a site that detailed use of a nubuck brush — like the one included in this set.
The brush has bristles on one side, white chalk on the other. Along the sides of the brush are rubber teeth — like a comb. Brushing the suede or sheepskin after it’s been washed will restore the texture. But by far — the white chalk is the best possible solution for grease stains. Rubbing the stains with the white chalk and then brushing it out works like a miracle. It took several applications to some stains — but this brush saved my boots. I can’t emphasize this enough — my boots were so bad I was ready to throw them away — but now they look new again.
One final word…
I really hope you enjoyed our review – and that it had helped you in choosing the best pair for the upcoming winter season.
