Girls Rain Boots
I must’ve spent two hours one weekend looking at all the toddler rainboots on Amazon. Most seemed more than I wanted to spend; many would warn that the boots were deceptively heavy and/or impossible to take on and off; and some boots would appear perfect until that one review would mention how the heel separated from the boot after just a few wears.
Then I found these. To be clear: at first, I cringed that these were Crocs. But they were a decent price, and so I took a gamble.
So far, so good, folks! We are quite, quite pleased with these boots, and here are all the reasons why:
1) They are easy to put on and take off–the handles help, but the structure of the boot works, too.
2) They are SO lightweight compared to other boots. For comparison purposes, I picked up my nephew’s (same age as my son) rainboots and I felt like I was carrying two little bricks. Why is this important? Your young’un can (theoretically) walk more easily in the boots if they’re lighter and the heel is less likely to separate from the boot.
3) The boots have no lining or anything, which we think is great–you can just leave them outside for the night, or hose them down, and you don’t have to worry about any smell.
Some things to note:
1) Order several sizes up! We went up FOUR sizes and they are working out great. We cringe at having to buy new shoes so often, so any time we can cut a corner, we do. And the funny thing is, the size 10s actually don’t look much bigger than his regular shoes at all when you look at the soles. And I’ve also read that these boots run small, so if it’s for a cost-savings reason or for no reason at all, it sounds like ordering up is the way to go because these boots run small.
2) Though the boots are lightweight, it may take some time for your young’un to walk properly in these boots. Our son looks like a wounded cowboy when he walks around in these, although it gets less weird every time he puts them on…
3) Our color choices when we bought this boot were “sea blue” (which is what we bought), fuchsia, and carnation. We chose the sea blue, but it’s really pretty much periwinkle, which can lean a little girl because of the purple tones in it. We’re okay with that, and by the time our son wouldn’t be okay with that, he’ll have outgrown these boots. But I bring it up because I now see a yellow color that wasn’t available, and I see that others in the past have ordered black, so be sure to check back frequently.
In sum, this is a great boot that allows our son to do his favorite thing in the world: chase his dog through puddles and try to splash the dog (who also loves it). The boot is easy to put on and take off, is easy to clean, and appears to be enjoyed by our son. We will definitely be buying another pair when he outgrows this one–we hope in a “boy” color!
I purchased these boots for my 18 month old Granddaughter for Christmas. While I wanted a size 4, the smallest available for toddlers was 5. I ordered them anyway knowing she will grow into them perhaps by Spring. She sat right down and attempted to put them on herself. We helped her and then she would not take them off. LOL They are cute, well made and the seller delivered by before the delivery date estimated. They also come in a cute box with a space for child’s name. Great for storing or to use as a treasure box!!
These are great. Just as we expected, great little rainboot. Easy to put on and the colors are pretty right on to the picture.
My grandaughter wears has worn these boots from last spring rain or shine to play in every day now Sept. 2, 2015, 6 months, Western Chief makes many different kinds of boots [these are not winter boots] but great for rain, rocky ground, on the farm and anywhere you don’t want their shoes messed up She is 3 and we bought a 10 last year for the end of this summer till winter, even though she’s still 3 we will get the 12’s. She can put them on and take them off by herself.
Perfect ! Our 1.5year old is a size 8wide but toddlers can be tough to out boots on at least mine cause she’s a toe curler so I got a 9 .. I love that they are translucent ! She’s got a lil toe room with thick socks on. Great great great product soft plastic awesome lights.
Boys Rain Boots
I only buy my daughter Kamik rainboots. They are high quality and comfortable, so I buy one every two whole sizes. We live in the Pacific Northwest and she loves to be outside, so they get heavy, year-round use. They are lightweight and flexible, so she can easily walk, run, and play in them (even when she was a toddler). They are extremely durable, have never leaked even when wading, look brand new, and are ready to hand down to her younger sister.
A note on fit: I find that the Blazer footprint (Stomp) is narrower than the Storm footprint (Kelsey, Alex, etc). The calf shaft is also a smaller circumference. My daughter has thin legs and a normal width foot. Both fit her, but the Stomp did not fit with thick socks and the Kelsey tends to slip off her foot from time to time. Kelsey is also more flexible than Stomp.
I have had Western Chief rainboots before, and I was not disappointed with this pair. My son was given a hand-me-down froggie raincoat and hat, so these boots match perfectly! I got one size larger than his standard shoe size. They’re a bit snug going over chubby little toddler feet, but unless his socks are damp or super thick, I can get them on without a struggle. And once those feet are in the boots, it’s obvious he’ll have plenty of toe room to grow into. As his feet get longer, they’ll thin out a bit, so I imagine I should get a full year’s use out of these boots.
The quality is great – sturdy plastic and solid joints. A few reviewers have said the pull bands broke on them, and I can imagine how that would happen if a lot of pressure was applied to them. Just look at the diameter of the band – it’s not meant to be tugged on relentlessly! They’re more intended to help a child guide his or her foot into the boot, rather than to be used to forcefully pull a boot on.
After several weeks of use, they’re now scraped up a bit (one-year-old + mud & gravel) and dirty, but there’s no sign of any structural problems. My daughter has had her pair of Western Chief rainboots for over a year now, and they’re as sturdy as the day we bought them.
Sophia is obsessed with Batman. She is in love with him, he is her boyfriend, and she dreams of Batman every night. Yes, those are words she has told me – crazy huh? Well I got something for her that’s perfect for this weather and her obsession: Batman Rain Gear from Western Chief Kids.
I guess it’s not fully my thoughts alone on this one since Sophia gets to have some input. We received a Batman themed raincoat and rain boots for review and we all fell in love. As a parent I loved that the items were made using high quality materials. These were definitely not cheaply made and were made to last. I love all the 3D detailed work they put into these items as well. The raincoat has a Snap closure which makes it easier for little fingers. It also has a detachable cape and Jersey lined. The boots are all natural rubber boot with moisture absorbent cotton lining and convenient pull handles for little hands. All in all I love the products and have confidence in their quality and allowing my daughter to wear them.
Sophia on the other hand just went nuts when she saw the raincoat and boots. It had her dream man on it and she was proud to try it out and wear. In fact, she wanted to wear it to school so she wouldn’t get all wet! Unfortunately that’s not quite okay to do at her school, but she has plenty opportunities at home to wear it.
I definitely recommend Western Chief Kids products. They’re high quality, have friendly customer service and ship out quickly. Plus with all this wet weather it’s good to keep some essentials around the house!
This is exactly as I expected. My son currently grows out of everything quite quickly. I either buy things at consignment stores or inexpensive items online. The quality of these boots is pretty good so far. My son has a wide foot and these fit him well. Best thing is that he can get these on and off by himself, which he loves.
I would absolutely recommend these.
Aside from the size discrepancy these boots are awesome! They definitely ran REALLY big when I got them. My son had outgrown a size 7 and has been in size 8 shoes for a while now, so I thought getting him a size 8 would be fine. They were so big he couldn’t even keep them on his feet to attempt to walk. I had to trade them for a size 7, and even those are kind of large on him so we have to put thick socks on him to keep them from being hard for him to walk in. Otherwise they’re a great product and I’m glad he’s got room to grow into them a little so we can keep using them for a while to come 🙂
He was also really excited about them because he can look like a fireman, and he’s been playing with the box they came in because it’s got a picture of a firetruck on it, so he got a little bonus toy box that he calls his “fire station” out of it haha.
Bought these for my firetruck/fireman/fire-everything infatuated 2 1/2-year-old son. He loves them and wants to wear them all the time regardless of the weather outside. He would even wear them to bed if we let him. They took just a little bit of adjustment when he first wore them since they are heavier than and don’t allow the easier range of motion when walking like a regular show. This was mild and short-lived though. Loves to wear them in conjunction with the Melissa and Doug fireman dress-up set that we already owned. Would highly recommend this product!
My 3-year-old loves these rain boots! He asks to wear them everyday and play fireman. High quality construction, I ordered a size big to last 2 seasons and even though they are large, they stay on and he can run around in them. Love the straps for pulling them on as he can easily get them on himself (when he wants to). Great product, great price
