I am on my feet all day as an instructor on military bases.Up to this point I have always worn white 100% cotton socks. However, before the day is 1/2 done my feet are a mess drenched in sweat! Because I am wearing a leather walking shoe now trying to keep my feet comfortable, I switched to black socks in order to not look like some “joe”. However, my significant other bought me some big box brand black crew socks… I found my feet came out STINKING! I was losing hope in finding a sock wear my feet would not be soaked, steaming and stinky….I have heard all about cool-max, but most of what I saw was just a sports ankle length, plus I found them over priced. I decided to try the PowerSox knowing it was a cheaper version, but at $12 for 3, I thought it was a reasonable risk to take for the sake of my little ‘puppies’.I flew to a gig in Kentucky and used 3 pairs, I have to say I am quite pleased. They are a little thicker than the crap you buy in $$-Mart, and they kept my feet much cooler and less sweaty. Combined with a little foot spray after getting out of the shower my feet also smelled nice.Since I am happy with them, I just bought another set a few minutes ago… Money.. meet where my mouth is…I would like to add, that you really need to wash these in cold water and then get them out of the dryer ASAP and not run them too hot. Otherwise you will find that the elastic will (like most other socks) lose its elasticity faster.December 2012 update:I’ve done many more trips, and just returned from Germany, which had me traveling 22 hours! These socks still get my vote!My current socks are still looking good. Slight piling, and the orange logo/words are fading, but otherwise they are still wearing well with strong elasticity. The price dropped by $3, so I just ordered another set of 3!
The socks I received were exactly as advertised. I’ve always preferred cotton socks, but my feet tend to perspire more than I would consider normal so I had to switch to a moisture wicking sock. I’m glad I chose Dickie’s. They do not have that synthetic feeling that other moisture-wicking sock have (you know, when it feels like your feet are sliding around in your shoes/boots), and they prevent me from feeling like I’m sloshing around with wet feet all day. They’re not going to prevent your feet from sweating, but they do provide breathability. Once you feel your feet starting to get a little too sweaty, just take your shoes off for a few minutes and the breathability of these socks allows all the moisture evaporate. Cotton socks do not allow the moisture to evaporate. I will be ordering more of these socks.
I work in Afghanistan and my feet are always getting overheated and sweaty, beat up from walking in boots in gravel and eventually stinky as hell. I found these socks on Amazon and gave them a shot and they are fantastic. I now have 3 pairs. I rotate between heavy boots, hiking boots and trail sneakers and my feet don’t overheat, get chafed or sweaty and the added padding in the heal is great. They hold up in the wash here too. Whoever designed these did a great job.
I have been running in minimalist footwear for almost 4 years now, usually with no socks at all. I most often run in Vibram five-fingers, but also do huaraches in summer. In bad weather or whatever, I would force myself to wear my old Asics with socks. I have always had sweaty feet, especially when running, so I really fell in love with the whole sockless/minimal thing. It took me a few years to build up enough callous/toughness to run 3 to 5 miles, and even then in wet weather (or when I stepped in a puddle0 I always got some small blister or another. Body Glide helped a lot, but lately I was pushing into the 5-10 mile range and I came to the realization that I would need different shoes, and some socks. Dang, there goes my free-wheeling hippie weirdness…I did a lot of research before buying one pair of these socks, and they are just phenomenal. I can run 5+ miles in them with sweaty feet, no problem. They feel absolutely frictionless, and I honestly can’t even feel them when they’re on. It’s like I’m still barefoot. This is gross, but since I have only one pair (so far) I sometimes forget them at work in my gym bag, and they’re still uh .. “damp” when I put them on to run the next day … and I still don’t get blisters. To top it off, I ran this weekend and the snow was still melting on the trail … I sank ankle-deep in slush puddles a couple of times. This used to be the kiss of death in my Vibrams — it would have been an instant blister. Not with these socks! I just kept running, and within half a mile my foot felt dry. I got home and took off my soggy shoes, but I forgot to take the socks off because they didn’t even feel wet. Weird! If there is any gripe at all, it is that even though I bought the size that was supposed to be for Men, size 10, they seem to run big. And by big I mean huge. The material is super-extremely-light-and-stretchy, but the extra fabric that goes into the heel actually bunches behind my heel by my achilles. Still, they smooth out fine and I can’t feel anything back there. I might try a slightly smaller size when I buy the next pair, but maybe not. I know these work.
These are honestly the best pair of socks I have ever owned. I am on my feet quite a lot with my job and one thing I noticed right away with these socks is how comfortable and cushony they felt. No matter how long I was up on my feet, I never experienced sweaty feet! You will not be disappointed with these socks, quality well worth the price tag
I’ve got a pair of these from like 2008, and by comparison the new ones don’t feel quite as thick or well made, but they’re still the most comfortable socks pretty much ever. I’m like a blister magnet, but I’m pretty sure the only time I’ve ever gotten a blister in a pair of Wigwams is when the heel wore through without me realising it. Also, you can’t feel the toe seams at all when you wear them, which is fantastic. And somehow it seems like your feet never get too hot or too cold or too sweaty.
Keeps your feet very dry. When I run in my thick thorlos in summer, I sweat so much that it feels like I stepped in a puddle of water! With these I had no problem with my sweaty feet. They really keep your feet dry!
“12 bucks for two pair of socks?” Those were my words to my wife when she handed these to me. But let me tell you, they are worth it. I stand all day long at my job and at night my feet are hot, sweaty and a little swollen. She said “Give em a try they are supposed to help.” And help they did. They wick the sweat away, they are comfortable and my feet are not swollen at the end of a long 11 hour day. The way they are made, the stuff they are made of, whatever it is it works wonders. Well worth the money I normally run through a pair of Wal-Mart socks in about three or four washings, but these have held up with nary a hole or string out of place, even the elastic is still tight after two months. If you need socks that will hold up to constant wear and tear and you want to have comfortable feet during and after wearing them, then these are the socks for you. Will buy again without hesitation.
Have not been able to wear shoes for a long time due to very sweaty feet. Tried on this socks with a pair of work boots and at the end of the day, socks wasn’t very wet and feet still manage to be kept dry as much as possible. In the past, any other socks would caused me to have blisters caused by my sweaty feet. No more issues with drymax.
I discovered these at a runner show a few years back and now these are the only socks I run with. They are a great fit and feel, they are very hard wearing which they need to be as I run a lot of miles.I also suffer from sweaty feet and these sock live up to their name, being the only dry piece of clothing I ave on after a run!
